Phoenix Kenya Karimikui by Mayflower

BOUQUET

Mayflower KARIMIKUI is marketed as having hints of:

• Prune (OK)
• Grenadine (?) and
• Simcoe (OK)

Apparently Simcoe is a type of Hops and has hints of beer and pine!

BEAN SNIFF TEST

I prefered the Mayflower.

Social beans were hampered by hints of Starbucks ie over-roasting.

Willie also preferred the Mayflower aroma.

The Social (1:12 ratio) in a 3 cup stainless vacuum MIR press.

Both cafetieres were preheated.

COFFEE TASTING  (NOT BLIND)

I knew which was which!

Both coffees are great

Social has a slight edge.

I don't think the SIMCO hints did Mayflower any favours

Who wants coffee contaminated with beer and pine!

FUTURE TESTING

To be rigorous I will co-opt Hannah to run a BLIND test

(But I'm fairly confident the results won't change)

When the Covid quarantine ends I'll re test the Allegro

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS

The Mayflower coffee packet is very ELEGANT

(Willie also made that observation)

The Mayflower cardboard shipping box is SUPERB

Over-engineered by a factor or 3 or 4!
