Little Victories REVISITED: The Importance of Grind

Revised Methods

Gerry visited on Saturday and I ground a double dose of beans (50g). The grounds cup overfilled and jammed the grinder. When I ground my 25grams on Sunday AM I needed much more effort than usual and produced in a much finer grind. It seems that the jam inadvertently tightened the grinder burrs. But the finer grind didn't clog the bodum or need excessive force to plunge. There was more sludge at the bottom of my mug. There was none of the previously conspicuous woodiness! I had accidentally produced a VERY FINE CUP of LITTLE VICTORIES Kenya!

I repeated this process this morning with the same very satisfactory results.

Conclusions

  1. Grind size sensitive and more of a factor than I thought.
  2. I should try FINER Grinds with the BODUM

Further Research

  1. Will finer grind improve the ALLEGRO and 49th PARALLEL kenyas?
  2. With revised grinds which coffee will prevail in a Blind Comparison

Apologies & Acknowledgments

Apologies for blaming Little Victories on my inadequate grinding technique. Thanks to Emily or stimulating & supporting this essential research
